Welcome

Welcome to the Ablesentry.net Preparedness Network... This site offers a private network for preppers to discuss and share information either privately or openly. A majority of our preps are sensitive in nature and we wish to keep them secure. However we would still like to share them with others who we care about. Ablesentry.net offers the capability to do this.

Tahoe Project

BOV   I purchased a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe in 2005, this was intended to be Bug Out Vehicle from the start. Of course gas wasnt so damned expensive then either... None the less, Im going to show some of the things I have done with it, and discuss things I want to do with it in the future... When I first purchased it, I thought cool it come with a brush guard, running boards and fender flares not to mention the color was perfect for a somewhat subdued look. The wheels that came with it were craigers, but to wide for the tires to meet a propper fit.

Building first Chicken Coop

This is the Coop we are building  We have finally undertaken the task of building a our first chicken coop. So far, since I have been lazy for a while I am feeling the pain of doing the work... All be it, it is fun and nice to get out to work on something... Just hoping we can keep it going. I purchased the plans through MyPetChicken.com at a reasonable price. Considering when I purchased them, the wife was not to keen on the idea of having chickens because she thought the kids would get sick from having them around. I had to find one which was appealing to the eye. This is what I found... Its called the Garden Coop and actually looks really nice in the pic.

Yaesu VX-6R HT   I have been using Yaesu VX-6R HT radio for several years now. This is a hand held transciever which has a JIS7 Standard rating and is capable of transmitting on three bands (2 Meter/ 1.25 Meter/ 70 CM) and will also recieve on 11 differnt bands. While its not the end all be all of radios it certainly is pretty well suited for preparedness.

Building Pantry (Sentry)

Pantry Storage   In Novembers of 2011 I started work on a Pantry in my utility room. In trying to keep it generally simple, I have used 2"X4"s to support the main plywood surface. All wood is coated with polyeurethane so the kids do not get splinters, also to keep the wood from looking old. I obtained FIFO can storage boxes from Onestep on www.flsurvival.com which gives me the capability of 6 months worth of canned food storage. I am adding surfaces as I go, recently I installed the third surface. I am wanting to install some sort of side shelving to this, perhaps for spices or something. This is a work in progress as with everything preparedness related.

Edsal 72"H x 36"W x 18"D 5-Tier Steel Muscle Rack Shelving Unit

Edsal Muscle Rack Shelf   I stopped dorking around with cheap plastic shelving a few years ago. I found at Lowes the Edsal 5 tier muscle racks which stand 72" high 18" deep and 36" wide. Perfect for storing preps, because they will hold 2k lbs in weight. Originally the wood part of the shelf was made out of masonite, and since they have switched to particle board. Edsal also makes a shelf which is 72" high, 24" deep and 36" wide. These go together with ease, and are generally light enough to move around.

Commo Box

Communications Case   This is my commo box, or communications case. I purchased this case from Cheaper Than Dirt at about 59.00. It appears to be just as durable as a Pelican case, but the dimensions for the price are superior in comparrison to a  pelican case. While the foam leaves little to be desired, its still workable. As you can see the case has a carry handle, but it also has four snap locks. The ouside demensions are 22.75"X 15" X 7" and the interior demensions are 20" X 12.75 X 7". This gives me plenty of width for my longer antennas which are 18 inches in length.
